UDHAMPUR, Sept 25: Majalta Police today arrested a woman among two drug peddlers at Manwal and recovered 24.4 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled by them in a vehicle.
Reports said that a Police team of Police Station Majalta, led by SHO Rakesh Kumar, under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Vishal Manhas, intercepted a Mahindra Xylo vehicle, bearing Registration Number PB08CK-8555, which was coming from Kashmir valley towards Battal area.
During checking , Police team recovered 24.4 kgs poppy straw following which both the persons travelling in the vehicle were arrested on the spot. The arrested persons were identified as Ranjeet Singh, son of Darshan Singh of Hoshiarpur Punjab and Resham Kaur, wife of Surjeet Ram of Kapurthala, Punjab.
In this connection, case FIR number 79/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station Majalta and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
