2 minor girls die in Zewan

SRINAGAR, May 25: Two minor girls died today after they fell into the stagnant waters near the stone quarries in Zewan area of Srinagar.
Five minor girls fell into water in the incident after which all of them were rescued. However, those who breathed their last were experiencing breathing issues, leading to their death later.
Locals and police rescued all those who had fallen into the water. The rest of them there are doing well and those shifted to Sub District Hospital Pampore have been declared dead.
The deceased minors have been identified as Rounak, 16, and Rutba, 14. The officials said that the bodies of both the girls will be handed over to their respective families only after the completion of formalities.
On the eve of Eid, the eyewitnesses reported that children including the girls that unfortunately fell into water were playing when they slipped into the stagnant rainwater near the stone quarries.
Locals had informed police and later, a joint rescue operation was launched, following which the girls were rescued. However, two developed breathing issues and were shifted to SDH Pampore where they died.
A pall of gloom has descended upon the locality on the eve of Eid.
