RAMBAN, July 13: Two persons were killed when a truck, they were traveling in, rolled down into river Chenab near Mehar on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.
The ill-fated truck bearing registration number JK02AG-8745 was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when it met with accident due to rash and negligent driving.
On getting information about the accident, a police party from Ramban Police Station led by SHO Ravinder Singh Parihar swung into action and started rescue operation under the supervision of SP Ramban, Anil Magotra and DySP Headquarters Perbeet Singh Parihar.
Both the critically injured occupants of the truck were rushed to District Hospital where one of them was pronounced as brought dead. Later, the injured occupant of the truck also succumbed to injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Youns Ibrahim, son of Mohd Ibrahim and Mohd Rafiq Tantray, son of Ghulam Qadir Tantray, both the residents of of Tethar Banihal. The dead bodies were, later, handed over to respective family members.
