2 killed in accidents, man’s body found

SAMBA/KATHUA, July 5: An 8-year-old boy was crushed to death by a car on Bari Brahmana-Bishnah road, one person was killed as a Tata Mobile vehicle hit a tree on road side near Dayala Chak while body of a youth was found near Railway bridge at Lakhanpur in district Kathua today.
A police spokesman said that 8-year-old Lovish Kumar, son of late Ashok Kumar of Bari Brahmana was moving along Bishnah road this afternoon. A Maruti Car No. JK02AL/4629 hit the boy from back, resulting his on the spot death. The police seized the vehicle and arrested its driver while body of the deceased was handed over to the family after conducting legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AE/7784 went out of control at Patyari near Sallan (Dayala Chak) and hit against a tree on the road side. While one Sagar Chand, son of Puran Chand of Patyari village was killed another person Sagar Chand –II, son of Kala Ram of Gurha Brahaman was seriously injured in the mishap. He was referred to GMC Jammu from Hiranagar hospital. They were returning from the shrine of Baba Sidh Goria.
Another report said that dead body of 37-year-old Dewan Chand, son of Khushi Ram, resident of Basantpur was found lying near Railway bridge at Lakhanpur this afternoon. A local noticed the man lying near the bridge and informed police.
The police party shifted the body to Kathua hospital for postmortem and later handed over to the family. The police said that this man was said to be an addict and over dose is believed to be the reason behind the death. However, investigation into the case has been started under Section 174 CrPC.
Meanwhile, one Gaurav Slathia, son of Tarsem Singh of Gurha Slathia was seriously injured after his bike No. JK-21/8121 was hit by a car No. JK02AL/3055 in Vijaypur area of Samba this afternoon. The boy with critical injuries has been admitted to GMC hospital, Jammu. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
