JAMMU, May 16: Two persons were killed and at least five others injured in two separate road accidents in Manjakote area of Rajouri and Kalani near Poonch today.
A report from Rajouri said that one Sultana Begum was killed and five others injured when a mini-bus bearing registration No. JK02E/1611 skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Kakaora in Manjakote area today. The mishap took place when the vehicle was on way to Rajouri from Manjakote. While Sultana Begum, wife of Mohd Sadiq of Rajdhani village was killed on the spot, five others including driver were injured and removed to District Hospital Rajouri.
The injured passengers were identified as Mohd Sadiq, husband of deceased Sultana Begum, Gulzar Ahmed of Rajdhani village, Roshan Bi from the same village and Mohd Shafi from Thandapani. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Another report said that tipper driver Ghulam Qadir, son of Mohd Abdullah, resident of Tangdhar in Kupwara was killed in a road mishap at Kalani project site in Poonch this evening. The mishap took place when he was busy in unloading his vehicle and slipped into the river from his vehicle. His body was later shifted to Poonch hospital for postmortem and then sent to his home town Tangadhar in Kupwara.
