JAMMU, July 24: Two persons were killed when a truck rammed into safety barriers before landing into a ditch along Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Kaluchak on city outskirts.
As per the reports, the tragic accident occurred around 6:30 AM when a truck (bearing registration number JK02BN-8375) which was heading towards Bari-Brahmana crashed into the safety barriers of the under-construction highway and overturned after falling into a ditch.
In the mishap, driver of the truck namely Kuldeep Singh (35) son of Dhanetar Singh, resident of Udhampur was killed on the spot while as a ‘sadhu’ like person who was sleeping along the road was crushed to death under the truck. He was identified as Ajay Chauhan (51) son of Asha Ram, resident of Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh).
Both the dead bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after conducting postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation initiated.
