2 killed, 5 injured in road mishaps

UDHAMPUR, June 16:  A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle near Birma Bridge on Jammu-Udhampur National Highway, here last night.
The deceased have been identified as Army Jawan Pritam Singh (28), son of Shanker Singh of Chitora near Moud in Udhampur and Kewal Singh (20), son of Harbans Singh of Basnot in Pancheri.
The accident took place late last night when an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle JK02AX-8958. The local shifted the duo to Army Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared both of them as brought dead.
Meanwhile, in another accident, five persons were injured when a Swift car and a Tavera collided with each other near Phalata on Jammu Srinagar National Highway, late last night. All the injured were shifted to PHC Garhi and then referred to District Hospital Udhampur.
The Swift car, bearing number HR075-2895, was on its way towards Srinagar while the Tavera JK18-9003 was coming from opposite direction. The injured have been identified as Rakiv Alam (26), son of Sahid Ali of Bihar, Mohd Ashraful (22) son of Mohd Hussain resident of Kethar Bihar, Sadiq (19) son of Kaka of Udhampur, Akhlesh (35) son of Shiv Dayal Singh and Rohit son of Prabhudev Singh, both the resident of Gole Mela Udhampur.
