2 killed, 4 injured due to collapse of seasonal ‘Dhok’

REASI, July 30: Two persons were killed and four others sustained injuries after a seasonal house-commonly known as ‘Dhok’– collapsed in remote Khanikote area, under the jurisdiction of Arans Police Station, here today.
Livestock, including three sheep, three goats and two oxen also came under debris of the Dhok and were killed.

The mishap took place in the wee hours, around 4 am, when the Dhok suddenly collapsed resulting into on the spot death of two persons and injuries to four others, who came under debris of the mud house.
The deceased were identified as Madan Lal (22), son of Gyan Chand and Joja Devi (42), wife of Rattan Singh, both residents of Khanikote.
The injured, identified as Sunil Singh, son of Rattan Singh, Lacho Devi, wife of Jai Singh, Kako Devi, wife of Kalyan Singh and Surjeet Singh, son of Bodh Raj, all residents of Khanikote, Arnas.
According to Police, the injured were shifted to nearby hospital where they were provided first aid and then discharged.
The mud house apparently collapsed because of incessant rains in the area for the last few days.
Meanwhile, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives due to the house collapse and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
According to a tweet by the office of Lt Governor, the district administration was directed to ensure best possible treatment to the injured and assistance to the affected families.
