JAMMU, Dec 28: Two persons were killed and one injured in two separate road accidents in this winter capital of the State.
According to a police spokesperson, a jawan of 3rd Battalion of IRP was seriously injured when the bike he was travelling on, was hit by a speeding truck bearing registration No JK02AD-5715 on flyover near petrol pump in Bus Stand area, this afternoon. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment. However, the victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The Bus Stand police have seized the truck involved in the accident while its driver managed to escape leaving behind the vehicle on the spot of accident. A case has been registered in this concern and further investigations are on.
In another incident, a motorcycle borne youth was killed while his pillion rider injured when the bike he was riding on, skidded at Tawi Bridge, late last night.
While the deceased has been identified as Gojinder Kumar son of Balram, a resident of Orissa (at present Shivaji Chowk, Jammu), the injured youth has been identified as Susheel Kumar son of Sukhdev.
The body of the deceased was today handed over to family members after conducting post mortem at GMCH, Jammu while the injured person is still being treated there. The concerned police has taken cognizance of the matter.
