2 JMC officials attached for encouraging illegal constructions

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 22: Acting on complaints of illegal constructions , Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation has ordered attachment of two Enforcement Officials with immediate effect and initiated an inquiry against them.
Punitive action against these two officials , namely Ravinder Sharma (Assistant Enforcement Officer) and Ramesh Wazir ( Enforcement Inspector) has been taken following a number of complaints of illegal constructions in their respective jurisdiction were received by the JMC.
Joint Commissioner (Administration) shall conduct an inquiry into the allegations against these two attached officials and submit a report within 15 days for further action, said JMC Commissioner, Pankaj Magotra.
Before their attachment, both the Enforcement officials were deployed in Gandhi Nagar area, which is fast emerging as the business hub though illegally. The duo was allegedly encouraging illegal construction of commercial premises in Jammu South (Gandhi Nagar and adjoining areas) in lieu of corruption.
JMC Commissioner told the Excelsior that there would no leniency against any official found involved in corrupt practices.
“Earlier, two Enforcement Inspectors namely Pritam and Gopal were placed under suspension on charges of corruption and an inquiry has been initiated against them for further action,” he added.
Pertinent to mention that with the alleged connivance of JMC officials, a large number of commercial complexes are being illegally constructed in Gandhi Nagar and other residential areas of Jammu South notwithstanding repeated directions of the higher authorities against the same.
The action against erring JMC officials is likely to check the illegal constructions to some extent.
