KATHUA, Jan 6: Two houses and cattle a shed were razed to ground whereas eight animals were roasted alive in devastating fire in Dhaggar area of Bani tehsil today.
As per reports two residential houses along with cattle sheds of Krishan Chand, son of Praga and Mulkh Raj son of Amir Chand in Dhaggar gutted in devastating fire that took place in the village today. One buffalo and seven goats of Mulkh Raj which stuck in cattle shed were also roasted alive in the devastating fire.
The local people tried their best to control the fire but in vain as they could not control the blaze due to lack of any fire extinguisher or fire tender.
SDM Bani rushed to the spot and handed over Rs 10000 each to victim families who suffered a huge loss of property and animals. Moreover, tents and ration were also provided to these families.
SDM Bani also directed the concerned authorities to immediately prepare the relief cases under SDRF and asked the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department for postmortem of livestock. Besides, the DFO Billawar has assured to provide timber to the victim families.
It is to mention here that in lack of any portable fire tender or other equipment to control the fire, the people face huge loss of property in regular fire incidents taking place in hilly areas of Kathua district.
Meanwhile, the people of Bani including Ex MLA, Jeevan Lal has demanded full compensation to the fire victims for construction of their houses. Mudasar Ali Bani a social activist said that this is fourth fire incident in the Bani area in last one month and the authorities despite repeated pleas have failed to sanction a fire tender to be stationed at Bani.
