POONCH, Aug 2: Mandi police arrested a shopkeeper and a student of class 12th for committing rape on a 17-year-old deaf and dumb girl in tehsil Mandi of district Poonch today.
The police said the girl was over powered and dragged to an abandoned house late last evening when she along with her 8-year- niece was going to nearby house of her uncle at village Baila. While, little girls ran away, Asiya (name changed) was allegedly raped by both the youth.
As the little girl narrated the incident at home, the family members of Asiya rushed to the area. The accused managed to slip away while girl was removed to hospital. A large number of people gathered there and they went to Police Station and lodged an FIR No. 58/ 2017 against the accused persons – Liaquat Hussain, son of Mohd Sharief and 12 class student Mohd Maroof, son of Mohd Azam, resident of Baila. The police arrested both the accused persons today and put them behind the lock up.
