Srinagar, May 17: Acting tough against the elements involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Budgam today arrested 2 persons and seized a vehicle (Dumper) and a JCB.
A police party of PS Beerwah during patrolling at Punchgund Beerwah arrested 02 persons and seized a vehicle (Dumper) and a JCB for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Government land, police said.
“The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Wani son of Mohammad Qasim Wani, Mohammad Younis Malik son of Mohammad Yousuf Malik, both residents of Punchgund Beerwah,” police said.
Police said that those arrested have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Both vehicle and a JCB used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
In this regard, police said, a case vide FIR No.57/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and the investigation is set into motion.
