SRINAGAR, Apr 4: The police arrested two drug peddlers and five bootleggers in Bandipora, Anantnag and Sopore and recover contraband substances, illicit liquor from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that based on specific information, a police party from Police Station Bandipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs established a checkpoint at Gundbal Bridge and during checking, one person identified as Showkat Ahmad Ganie, resident of Saloosa Kreeri, Baramulla was intercepted. On his checking police recovered 478 capsules/tablets of banned drugs and 30 tramadol injections from his possession.
Arrested person was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, while a case, FIR number 42/2021, under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bandipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that a notorious drug peddler namely Bilal Ahmad Rather resident of Gamroo Bandipora is involved in supplying these drugs. Efforts are on to nab him,” police said.
In Anantnag, a Police party during checking at Khanbal intercepted a person identified as Aasif Ahmad Bhat, resident of Seepan Khanbal.
“During checking, police recovered 400 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 70/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Anantnag and investigation has been initiated,” police said.
In north Kashmir’s Sopore area police arrested five bootleggers and recovered illicit liquor from their possession.
Police said that officers from Police Station Dangiwacha under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad established a checkpoint at Dangiwacha. During checking of vehicles, an i-20 vehicle bearing registration number JK13F-2783 with five persons on board was intercepted and during search illicit liquor was recovered from their possession.
“They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, case FIR No. 58/2021 under relevant Sections of law has been registered in PS Dangiwacha and investigation into the matter has been initiated,” police said.
