2 drug peddlers arrested with banned tablets

SRINAGAR, Feb 15: The sleuths of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Police Station Nowgam arrested two drug peddlers along with banned tablets.
According to SP ANTF Vinay Sharma, acting tough against the drug peddlers, a joint team of ANTF and Police Station Nowgam arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession at naka near new Bye pass. A Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK13-7785 in which they were travelling has also been seized, SP added.
SP informed that the arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Ahmad Rather of Hariparigam Awantipora and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Jabar Bhat of Awantipora.
“123 strips of banned tablets were recovered from the possession of arrested persons”, SP said, adding that a case under FIR Number 7/2021 under Section S 8/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowgam and further investigation has been initiated.
SP Vinay Sharma requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law, he added.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”, SP asserted.
