KATHUA, Feb 20: One house wife and a youth died after consuming some poisonous substance in Hiranagar and Sangwali Samba while an octogenarian person is battling for life after he received 80 percent burn injuries when his bed caught fire at his residence in Hiranagar today.
According to police Anita Rani, 32 of village Tali in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district consumed some poisonous substance at her residence today. She was taken to District Hospital Kathua where she died later. The Hiranagar Police has registered a case under Section 174. However reports said that the lady has informed her husband that she had consumed some poisonous substance.
Her body was handed over by police to family after postmortem in the afternoon for cremation.
A 21 year old youth identified as Rishi Kumar S/O Pawan Kumar of Mandi Sangwali Samba district died after consuming some poisonous substance at his residence today.
He was shifted to DH Samba wherefrom doctors referred him to GMC Jammu but he died at Vijaypur while on way to Medical College.
In another incident an 80 year old man identified as Des Raj S/O Tito Ram of Hiranagar received 80 percent burn injuries after his bed caught fire in mysterious circumstances. He was shifted to GMC Jammu by family in a serious condition and was undergoing treatment there.
The cause of fire is being ascertained and Hirangar Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard.
