RAJOURI, Nov 8: Two persons were killed while three others injured when a car met head-on-collision with a truck near Lamberi in Nowshera area of district Rajouri last night.
Reports said the mishap took place when an Alto car bearing registration No. JK-12 / 0247 was on way to Jammu from Poonch. As the car reached near Lamberi in Nowshera, it collided with a truck No. JK02AJ/7155, coming from Jammu at a sharp curve at around 9.15 pm.
The truck driver jumped out of the vehicle and escaped from the spot. While one person in the car was killed on the spot, four others received serious injuries. The deceased was declared dead in Nowshera hospital around 10 pm. The four other injured were referred to GMC hospital Jammu from Nowshera hospital. Critically injured Javed, son of Mushtaq Hafiz of Nabna Madana in Surankote, also succumbed to injuries on way to Jammu, a police spokesman said. His body was also brought back to Nowshera in the morning.
The deceased, killed on the spot was identified as Khalid Hussain, son of Mohd Maqbool, resident of Madana in Surankote. The bodies were handed over to the families after conducting postmortem today.
Those referred to Jammu are identified as Mohd Shahbaz, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Nwang in Surankote, Sajjad Ahmed, son of Mohd Yaqoob and Mohd Wasim, son of Mohd Hafiz-all residents of Madana in Surankote. The police has started search for the absconding truck driver.
