2 detenues escape, 3 suspended

KATHUA, July 24: Two detenues fled from Raj Bagh Police Station late last night after breaking the grill of the lock up with which they were tied by the Munshi of the Police Station after bringing them out of lock up as the duo complained of feeling suffocated inside due to intense heat.
SSP, Kathua Mohan Lal has placed SHO, Jitender Singh, Munshi of the Police Station, Angrez Chand and Santri Garu Ram under suspension. The SSP has also ordered inquiry into the matter and ASP Kathua Yogesh Sharma has been asked to probe and submit the report.
According to reports two detenues Najakat Ali, S/o Khalid Hussian of Anantnag in Kashmir Valley and Neeraj Kumar S/o Titroo Ram of Raj Bagh were arrested by police. Najakat a notorious bovine smuggler was arrested for smuggling of bovine animals while Neeraj was involved in a theft case.
However, late last night they complained that they were feeling suffocated due to intense heat and humidity inside the lock up and be brought out in the open for some time. The Munshi brought them hand cuffed out from lock up in open and tied both of them with the grill of the lock up.
The duo after some time gave a slip to the police, broke the grill and fled.
However police succeeded in arresting Neeraj from Raj Bagh area in the morning today while Najakat is still at large. The Police has launched a manhunt to arrest him.
