2 detained in Nanak Nagar incident

JAMMU, June 17: Police today detained two youths to whom accused Gurbachan Singh, involved in yesterday’s sacrilegious act at Nanak Nagar temple, had made last calls including the one immediately after committing the act.
The youth were detained by police after extracting data from the mobile telephone of Gurbachan Singh alias Mintu son of Harbans Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar.
SP City (South) Shahzad Salaria said the detained youth were being questioned and CDR of their mobile phones will be available only once the internet services are restored.
The detained youth have been identified as Rajinder Rajput son of Sugriv Singh R/o Nanak Nagar and Suresh Kumar Baba son of Elgu Ram of Uttar Pradesh, presently putting up at Baba Sidh Nath Mandir, Talab Tillo.
Police said Gurbachan Singh had made last call to Rajput soon after the incident. However, Rajput is reported to have told police that Gurbachan Singh used to come to his shop for purchasing some items.
As reported, police was investigating whether there was any conspiracy angle behind two sacrilegious incidents inside the temple at Roop Nagar and Nanak Nagar.
Gurbachan Singh has already been booked under the PSA. Further investigations in the case were on.
Meanwhile, internet services in Jammu region remained suspended today as well. However, broadband services were restored at 10 am today.
