JAMMU, Mar 3: Department of Zoology, Central University of Jammu, organised two-day International Conference on Advances in Biological Sciences for Sustainable Development (ICABSSD) – 2024.
The mega event was attended by renowned scientists, academicians, entrepreneurs and industrialists across the country and abroad.
The inaugural session of the conference was presided over by Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor CUJ. Prof Manoj Dhar, Director, AcSIR, was the chief guest of the inaugural session while Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu was guest of honour.
Dr Ashok Yadav, convener of the conference, gave an overview of the conference. The technical sessions comprised the keynote talk delivered by Prof Manoj Dhar, Director AcSIR, on tackling global hunger through technological interventions in world food production. Second keynote speaker was Prof Noga Kornfield – scholar from Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University, USA.
Other eminent speakers of the sessions included Dr Roee Gutman, Department of Nutrition and Natural Products, MIGAL, Galilee Research Institute, Israel; Prof Akhil Gupta, SKUAST Jammu; Dr Raghav Mishra, BHU Varanasi; Prof B K Bajaj, University of Jammu; Dr Felix Bast, Central University of Punjab; Prof Santashree Banerjee, Jilin University, China; Dr Suresh Kumar Yadav, GNDU, Amritsar; Dr Ramchandra Bhaskaran, Chief Scientific Officer and Lab Director from Nucleome Informatics Pvt Ltd; Dr Shashank Maurya, BHU; Dr Himanshu Yadav, BHU; Dr Vikas Babu, IIIM and Dr Vinay Kumar Singh.
On Day 2 of the conference, keynote speakers were Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu who delivered a talk on fish endocrinology. A total number of 120 oral and poster presentations were delivered by the participants from various universities across India in the conference.
The chief guest of the valedictory session was Prof Kuldeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Himalayan University, Itanagar and Ashutosh Mukherjee fellow of ISCA while guest of honour was Prof S K Jha, School of Life Sciences, JNU.
The conference proceedings were conducted by Dr Stanzin Ladol and formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Dhanananjay Kumar, Co-convener of the conference. The overall program was successfully organized by the organizing secretary of the conference, Dr Shvetambri Jasrotia.
