JAMMU, Feb 6: Two-day “Annual-Book-Fair 2016-17” was inaugurated today by Director School Education Jammu, Babila Rakwal at Govt. GHSS Shastri Nagar Jammu
Joint Director Trainings/ Principal SIE, Jammu Mohd Iqbal, Joint Director Darshan Lal and other members of teaching fraternity were present on the occasion.
The Book-Fair has been organized by SIE Jammu in collaboration with Directorate of School Education, Jammu. The publishers registered with Book Federation of India participate in the event. This year a total of 48 distinguished publishers/book-sellers across the State as well as outside the State participated in the event. The different committees of subject experts have been constituted for selection/recommendation of reference books, academics books and library books of latest editions required for 9th -12th standard students. The quality of subject material and the cost shall be the criteria for selection of books.
DSEJ Babila Rakwal emphasized that there is dire need to inculcate reading habits amongst the young students for general and subject specific reference books in libraries. She impressed upon the experts to select the general books which are knowledge worthy and also acquaint the students about their history and culture.
