2 CRPF jawans from J&K killed in Chhattisgarh naxal attack

JAMMU : Among 14 jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) killed in Chhattisgarh naxal attack, two of them were residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police sources, one of the CRPF jawans killed in the attack was identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Tarsem Lal, resident of village Salah, Swankha, Vijaypur, District Samba.   The jawan belonged to remote area of Samba district of Jammu region.

“The body of the jawan will reach Jammu tomorrow afternoon and he will cremated with full honours,” a senior police officer said..

He was deployed with 223 Battalion of CRPF and was posted in Sukma area of Chhattisgarh two years ago.

Meanwhile, another jawan killed in an attack was identified as Mohammad Shafi Bhat, son of Mehrajuddin Bhat, resident of Buran, Pattan.

Shafi Bhat had joined the CRPF ranks six years ago and since then he had served in different parts of the country. The Kashmir based jawan is survived by two children, wife and parents. (AGENCIES)
