2 brothers among three arrested with ganja, heroin

*4 vehicles seized for illegal mining

JAMMU, July 20: Bahu Fort and Chanderkote Police arrested three persons including two brothers along with ganja and heroin, while Jhajjar Kotli, Manwal and Jourian Police seized four vehicles engaged in illegal mining.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort laid a naka and asked a person coming from Railway Station side to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the person tried to escape, but he was chased away and overpowered by the alert cops on duty.
During checking, police team recovered 10 kilograms of high grade ganja from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Satish Kumar, son of late Opinder Sahni, a resident of Village Dhobgidha, District Purnia Bihar.
A case under FIR Number 261/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday also Bahu Fort Police arrested 4 inter-state narcotics smugglers along with 7 kilograms.
Police team led by SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by PSI Farmeen Choudhary made the arrest and recovery under the supervision of SDPO City East Bikram Kumar, SP City South Deepak Digra and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary along with PSI Sunil Choudhary laid a naka and intercepted Eco car bearing registration number JK06A-0481.
During checking, police team recovered 11.80 grams heroin from the possession of the two persons and arrested them.
The arrested person was identified as Vijay Kumar and Babu Ram, sons of Mool Raj, a resident of Ghat District Doda, at present Arnoda, District Doda.
A case under FIR Number 87/2021 under Section 8/21/22/ NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation started.
SSP Ramban PD Nitya has appealed to the public to support police in its drive against the drugs in district Ramban.
“These drugs are spoiling the future of our nation and it is our collective responsibility to eradicate this menace from the society”, she added.
However, teams from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SHO Inspector Devinder Singh, Police Post Manwal led by Inspector Vikram Singh Jasrotia and Police Post Jourian led by Inspector Kunal Singh Jamwal raided different locations in their respective areas and seized four different vehicles involved in illegal mining.
The mining was being done in violation of order of High Court of J&K.
In order to strictly implement the drive against illegal mining and to tighten noose against the violators of the law, Jammu Police has initiated strict action.
