KATHUA, May 1: Kathua police today arrested two bootleggers and recovered 75 pouches of Indian made liquor from them.
The two bootleggers were arrested by the Kathua Police at a special naka near Gujjar Hostel Kathua as police had got the prior information about the drug peddlers. The duo was identified as Harbans Singh S/o Punjab Singh R/o Manglore and Satish Kumar S/o Khem Raj R/o Lakhanpur carrying 38 and 37 pouches respectively.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 137/2017 u/s 48(a) Excise Act stands registered against them at Police Station Kathua and investigation is in progress.
Moreover, on the same day, Police party of P/S Kathua acting on specific information conducted raid at Nagri Bus Stand and arrested four gamblers who were identified as Joginder Kumar S/o Sardari Lal R/o Kathua, Dimple Verma S/o Jagdish Raj R/o Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu, Vishal Verma S/o Uttam Chand R/o Ward No, 4 Kathua, Parvinder Singh S/o Shamsher Singh R/o Ward No. 4 Kathua and an amount of Rs. 78,590/- and playing cards were recovered from the gambling site. Police took the cognizance and accused persons have been booked U/S 13 Gambling Act.
The whole driver was carried out under the direct supervision of S.S. Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall direction of Pawan Parihar, SSP Kathua.
