JAMMU, Aug 13: Two persons attempted suicide in Kathua and Rajouri area while a bike rider was crushed by a bus of Chenab Textiles Mill on National Highway near Kathua today.
A police spokesman said that one Mohd Shabir (28), son of Munshi Khan, resident of Saj village in Thannamandi ( Rajouri) consumed some poisonous substance and was rushed to Rajouri hospital. He was declared dead by the doctors. The youth had gone to his in-laws’ house as his wife had left home after a tiff with him and other members. The youth was produced before local Panchayat members to settle the dispute by in-laws. The youth after this left the venue and consumed some poison. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Jasbir Kumar, son of Hans Raj, resident of Mahi Chak (Nagri) in Kathua became serious after he consumed some poisonous substance today at his home. The family rushed him to Kathua hospital where doctors provided preliminary treatment and referred him to GMC Jammu. He died in Jammu hospital. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Another report said that motor-cyclist Kartar Singh, son of Babu Ram, resident of Bagla village in Janglote, was hit by a bus (No. JK08C/1629) of Chenab Textile Mill on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway this evening. His both legs were crushed under the wheels. He was rushed to District Hospital Kathua and then referred to GMC Jammu by the doctors. The driver of the bus escaped from the spot. The police seized the bus and registered a case in this connection.
