KATHUA, Aug 22: The police arrested two youth posing themselves as members of `Anti-Goonda’ Squad of Police and indulging in extortion in Kathua area today.
A police spokesman said that on the basis of certain complaints, a Kathua police party caught both of them when they were negotiating a deal with an absconder. The police party nabbed both of them and registered a case against them. They used to trap the criminals evading arrests and others involved in petty offences and extorting money by posing themselves as Policemen from Anti-Goonda squad.
They have been identified as Surinder Singh, son of Arvinder Singh of Mala Taloti and Tarun Sharma, son of Gopal Dass, resident of Ward No. 10 Kathua.
They had also managed fake I-cards. The police was investigating and suspecting a possible link of these accused with any cop in the district police.
