Srinagar, Jan 19: Around 2-3 militants of Hizbul Mujahideen are trapped in a village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after they were surrounded by troops this evening leading to a gun battle.
Police said that a gun battle raged between militants and the joint team of Army and police at Naina in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district tonight.
Acting on a specific information about the presence of 2-3 militants including Hizbul Mujahideen commander at Naina village, Army’s 55 RR, 183 CRPF and SOG cordoned off the village.
As the security forces intensified the searches and fired few probing shots, militants hiding in the area tried to break the cordon and run away. They fired indiscriminately at the security forces.
Security forces cordoned off the whole area and sealed all the entry and exit points in the area to prevent the militants from fleeing.
Reports said that two Hizbul Mujahideen militants Latif Ahmad Dar and Shakir are trapped inside.
