1st spell of monsoon showers likely to hit Jammu in next 48-hrs

JAMMU : While the Jammu region this year received deficient rainfall by 79 per cent, the first spell of monsoon showers is likely to hit in next 48 hours, an official here today said.

“J&K overall has received deficient rainfall by 39 per cent with Jammu recorded 79 per cent but the dry spell is likely to get over as the first spell of monsoon showers, likely to hit Jammu region in the next 48-hours,” Sonam Lotus, Officer in-charge MeT Section told.

Mr Lotus said in Jammu region, in the next couple of days, showers are expected adding, “Monsoon overall remained sluggish in J&K till date as a whole.”

Meanwhile hot and humid weather conditions continue to prevail in Jammu region with maximum temperature today recorded 35.7 degree C and minimum 23.9 degree C.

“Early morning showers are expected tomorrow while the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37°C & 25°C respectively,” he added.

He further said in Srinagar, the maximum temperature was today recorded as 31.9 degrees and minimum was 19.8 degrees and added, “Tomorrow there will be partly cloudy sky with maximum and minimum temperatures around 30°C & 20°C respectively in Srinagar.”

In Leh, the maximum temperature was recorded 32.2 and the minimum was 18.6 degrees while for tomorrow, there will be partly cloudy sky with maximum and minimum temperatures touching 32°C and 18°C respectively. (AGENCIES)
