1st Arthroscopic surgery performed in Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Nov 8: First arthroscopic ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction was done in Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar under Ayushman Bharat Scheme on a young man.
A 21-year old young man was suffered from trauma to the right knee for last one year. After getting unsuccessful treatment in various centres, he came to Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, where he was advised MRI of knee by Dr Kanav Padha, Joint Replacement, Arthroscopic and Orthopedic Surgeon of the Hospital. He was diagnosed with tear of a major ligament of knee (ACL) along with Meniscal tear.
The Patient was operated and ACL was reconstructed with Hamstring Tendon graft taken from the patient and the torn part of the meniscus were removed arthroscopically by Dr Kanav Padha. This was the first case of Arthroscopic surgery in the Hospital and was done under Ayushman Bharat Scheme, totally free of cost.
