RAJOURI, Oct 15: The police today rescued 19 bovine animals and foiled four bids of smuggling cattle to Kashmir via Mughal Road in district Rajouri last night.
Official sources said that a team of police headed by SHO Rajouri, Tahir Khan under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rajouri, Govind Rattan, during patrolling last night intercepted two vehicles on Rajouri-Kandi road on the outskirts of the town here. These vehicles include Tata Magic, JK01AB -6065 from which police rescued two animals and another vehicle Tata Mobile JK 11B 4585, from which police rescued five animals. Both the drivers have been arrested and vehicles seized.
A police team from Sunderbani laid a surprise naka on Thandapani – Patrara road and saw an unknown person who was travelling with two bovines on foot, who fled from some distance of police Naka taking advantage of darkness and left behind two bovines which were rescued.
A team of Chingus police post headed by SI Sanjay Raina laid a surprirse naka on highway and intercepted a truck JK20A 4119 which was loaded with 10 bovines.
Truck was seized and smuggler namely Mohd Younis , resident of Talwara in Reasi was arrested. The police have taken cognizance in all these cases.
