14 PoK guests arrive, 9 Kashmiri cross to other side of LoC

SRINAGAR:  Fourteen residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition while nine Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control  (LoC).  

As many as eight returnees also crossed sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector.  

The PoK residents, besides meeting their relatives will also witness the parliamentary elections in the valley during their stay here.  

Official sources said 14 PoK guests, including three women and two children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot.    A Kashmiri woman, who had gone to PoK, returned back to her home after completing stay across the LoC with her relatives, separated in 1947.  

They said nine Kashmiri residents, including two women cross to PoK in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad since April 7, 2005 after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of divided families on permits instead of International passport.    They said seven PoK residents, returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir.
