samba, Jan 19: Eighteen persons including 13 women, four men and a two and a half-year old child were injured after a speeding mini-bus turned turtle near Kartholi in Bari Brahmana area of Samba district.
According to the reports, the ill-fated mini-bus bearing registration No JK02AG-7842 carrying mourners, was on its way back from Bari- Brahmana to Reore, when near Kartholi the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle, which first crossed the parapet and then turned turtle.
The mishap which left 18 persons injured reportedly occurred due to the negligence of the driver, who fled from the spot after the mishap. All the injured have been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
The injured persons have been identified as Gyano Devi (80) wife of Kashmira Ram, Vaishno Devi (55) wife of Sita Ram, Ratno Devi (55) Dhani Ram, Rami Devi (60) wife of Sindoor Das, Asha Rani (50) wife of Bansi Lal, Savitri Devi (60) wife of Girdhari Lal, Beena Devi (35) wife of Banarsi Das, Sheela Devi (55) wife of Seva Ram, Kanta Devi (59) wife of Dev Raj, Veero Devi (55) wife of Major Ram, Rajkumari (40) wife of Yashpal, Ashu Devi (30) wife of Prem Kumar and her two and half-year old child, Arnav Kumar, Gopal Chand (55) son of Manga Ram, Joginder Kumar (40) son of Girdhari Lal, Banarsi Das (45) son of Manga Ram and Sanjay Kumar (21) son of Ram Lal, all residents of Reore, besides Banasho Devi (55) wife of Hans Raj, a resident of Badheri.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, a 52-year old man identified as Prabhat Singh (52) son of Mangat Sigh, a resident of Makhanpur in Bishnah, was injured after the car he was travelling in collided with a tractor at Chakori in Bishnah area. The injured Prabhat was shifted to Government Hospital, Bishnah, from where later he was referred to GMCH Jammu.
A female pedestrian identified as Sneh Lata (50) wife of Vijay Bali, a resident of Karan Bagh, also received injuries when she was hit by a bike at Karan Bagh. She was rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar but later she was referred to GMCH for specialized treatment.
