JAMMU, May 11: Eighteen passengers were injured today when a bus rammed into a truck in Jhajjar Kotli area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, a bus bearing registration number JK02AP-0039, which was on its way from Udhampur to Jammu, on reaching near Jhajjar Kotli bridge rammed into a stationary truck (registration number JK02AC-5765), which was parked along the road after some mechanical fault erupted in it. He said the mishap occurred this morning at about 11:50 when the bus driver tried to escape the collision with a Baleno car (registration number JK02CA-9965) which was coming from wrong tube of the National Highway. In the mishap, 18 passengers of the bus got injured, some of them seriously. All of them were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
The injured passengers were identified as Amar Singh (24) son of Tara Chand of Billawar, Gourav Choudhary (25) son of Faqir Chand of Sari Rakhwala, Jeevan Singh (25) son of Balwant Singh of Pargwal, Sumitra Devi (66) wife of Nar Singh of Udhampur, Madhvi (24) wife of Rakesh of Udhampur, Narinder Atri (32) son of Ramesh Dass of Chenani, Shamshad Begum (17) daughter of Liaquat Ali of Domail, Sushma Devi (32) wife of Rajinder Kumar of Udhampur, Sonia (21) daughter of Raj Kumar of Akhnoor, Liaquat Ali (38) son of Sain Mohd of Domail, Girja Bhat (51) wife of Ashok Kumar of Shiv Nagar, Ashok Kumar (61) son of Gopi Nath Bhat of Shiv Nagar, Nazir Mohd son of Din Mohd of Panthal (Katra), Amir Ahmed Rather (21) son of Mohd Ibrahim Rather of Pulwama, Yashpal (58) son of Amar Nath of Udhampur, Sami Jaan (22) wife of Amir Ahmed Rather of Pulwama, Dharam Nath Ram (18) son of Dinkar Ram of Domail and Ajay Kumar (27) son of Sri Chand of Udhampur.
A case in this connection was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigations started.
