17,613 yatris pay obeisance at Amarnath

SRINAGAR: As many as 17,613 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, today paid obeisance at holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir.

Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar yesterday visited the Nunwan Base Camp on traditional Pahalgam route and took stock of the arrangements made for the successful conduct of the Amarnath yatra.

An official spokesperson here this evening said 17,613 pilgrims from different parts of the country paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine since early this morning.

With this a total of 46,795 pilgrims had darshan of the Ice Shiva Lingam in the first four days of the commencement of the annual pilgrimage from June 29 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Nunwan Phalgam tracks. (AGENCIES)
