JAMMU, July 6: With 17,202 yatris paying obeisance at the Swami Amarnathji holy cave situated at the height of 3880 metres in Lidder Valley of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on sixth day of darshan today, the cumulative total of pilgrims reached to 84768.
Among the pilgrims who visited holy cave were 12,408 males, 4095 females, 490 children, 192 Sadhus and 17 Sadhvis.
The influx of yatris continue to surge with each passing day making it one of the most successful yatra in the country, an official spokesperson of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said.
The entire yatra is being monitored from Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at HMT which has been put in use for Swami Amarnath Ji Yatra since 2022, he said.
He said ICCC, HMT is being integrated with RFID to monitor Yatra remotely on real time basis. All departments monitor and send communication to their staff in field from here to cater to the requirements of yatris.
The spokesman said ICCC helps in effective management of operations in exceptional scenarios such as disaster mitigation using information and communication technologies.
An official at ICCC said that ICCC has been integrated with RFID which is a pure data science and helps in effective crowd control management, traceability, avoidance of traffic jams and management besides ensures coordination among all stake holders on a real time basis.
The data analysis and simulation models are effective in disaster mitigation and pre-emptive actions, he added.
Reports said 3865 pilgrims left Nunwan Pahalgam to holy cave early this morning while the pilgrims camping at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also started their onwards sojourn early this morning.
Reports said that over 3000 pilgrims were camping at Panchtarni tonight.
Meanwhile, the weather remained cloudy in entire yatra area during the day, however the yatra was not hindered. Reports reaching here said that it drizzled at various occasions during the day but the yatra passed smoothly.
As per reports, five pilgrims have lost their lives during last six days of yatra enroute the holy cave. One Langar Sewadar died at SKIMS, Soura this evening. His identity was yet to be ascertained.
One Amarnath pilgrim from UP died in Dalwas area of Ramban after suffering a cardiac arrest in a vehicle while returning after performing darshan at holy cave. He was immediately rushed to District Hospital Ramban where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The police identified the deceased pilgrim as Kashi Ram, 62, son of Parkash Chand, resident of Mohit Vihar Colony, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam tweeted that an ambulance was deputed to shift moral remains of the deceased pilgrim to Jammu.
The rush of pilgrims is day by day increasing with thousands of yatris from across the country are daily reaching here for their onwards visit to holy cave. As per reports over 3000 pilgrims were camping at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas by this evening while hundreds of pilgrims are staying outside the Yatri Niwas in community halls and private hotels.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 6,554 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas under tight security arrangements in a cavalcade of 272 vehicles early this morning for twin base camps of Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal where from they will proceed to holy cave early tomorrow morning.
Among them 2690 pilgrims preferred to take the shortest Baltal track while 3864 opted for the traditional and longest Pahalgam Nunwan track to holy cave.
A mobile medical assistance team of 84 Bn CRPF evacuated a critically ill pilgrim at Ramban.
As per reports, a female yatri namely Vimla, 57, resident of Surat Gujarat was in critical condition, inside the Yatri bus at Chanderkot halting point. The CRPF Medical Assistance team led by Dr Anu Gorke immediately rushed to the spot. On examination, doctor found her sugar and BP level was abnormally high and she had shortness of breath. She was immediately evacuated to District Hospital Ramban in CRPF ambulance. After conducting tests on her at DH Ramban, she was referred to Tertiary Care Centre GMC Jammu for specialised treatment.
