17 drug peddlers arrested

JAMMU, Apr 12: Seventeen drug peddlers have been arrested by Anti-Narcotic and Drugs (ANANDD) team under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’.
According to SP Headquarters RC Kotwal, who is also Nodal Officer of the team ANANDD for Jammu District, which has been constituted by SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta, around 9 cases have been registered in various police stations of Jammu district in different Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Acts.
Seventeen drug peddlers have been arrested by the team in these nine cases, he added.
“One case has been registered under Section 8/15 NDPS Act, in which two drug peddlers have been arrested along with 3 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki), whereas 3 cases have been registered under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, 5 persons have been arrested along with 16 kilograms ganja and 650 grams charas”, he said, adding that 5 cases have been registered under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act in which around 10 accused have been arrested along with 6.1 grams heroin, 80 intoxicant capsules, 240 banned syrup bottles and 224 tablets.
Moreover, two criminals namely Tajinder Singh alias Jinda and Dilbag Singh, who are involved in drug peddling and criminal activities have been booked under PSA.
Nine criminal cases have been registered against Tajinder Singh alias Jinda, son of Darshan Singh, a resident of Ward Number 2, Simbal Camp, Miran Sahib in different police stations of Jammu District, SP said, adding that eight criminal cases have been registered against Dilbag Singh, son of Janak Singh of Ward Number ,4 Simbal Camp, at present Makhanpur Gujran Miran Sahib Jammu in different police stations of Jammu District.
