160 Bn of CRPF celebrates 10th Raising Day

JAMMU, Aug 2: 160 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated 10th Raising Day.
On the occasion, SS Ghuman, Commandant, 160 Bn, CRPF was the chief guest, who took salute at Quarterguard in presence of all officers, SOs and jawans.
While speaking, SS Ghuman, Commandant, 160 BN, CRPF reminded achievements and appreciable work done by this unit. He said that the unit was raised on April 4, 2004 at GC Mokamaghat, CRPF, Bihar. After completion of basic training, this battalion was deployed in J&K.
He stated that during this period, this unit personnel played main role in maintaining peace and tranquility in militant affected areas in coordination with police in Srinagar at a place where temperature remain below zero degree.
Commandant further said that this unit also recovered many sophisticated weapons and explosives in militant affected areas to maintain the peace.
The battalion has also played very important role in completion of General Parliament election 2014 alongwith with their operational duties, he said.
A sports programme was also organized and consolation prizes were distributed to winners and participants by the commandant. Thereafter in the evening, a cultural programme was organized by the jawans and their families, which was enjoyed by one and all.
Gurcharan Singh, Deputy Commandant, Harish Chandra Kumar, Deputy Commandant, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Commandant, Ram Karan Yadav, Assistant Commandant, Leena Nagwanshi, Assistant Commandant and officers of this unit were present with their families.
