JAMMU, Oct 24: Army today recovered 16 kilograms of explosive concealed in two packets from Lor Devta area of district Poonch.
As per Defence spokesperson, based on the information, Territorial Army Battalion and Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Romeo Force launched a joint search operation against a suspected hideout in area of Lor Devta in Poonch district.
The operation was launched under an Army officer of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Romeo Force incorporated police representatives from Poonch Police Station and sniffer dogs from an Army Dog Unit at around 0545 hours, he added.
He stated that the party reached general area of Lor Devta at 1115 hours and carried out search operations. At around 1410 hours, a natural cave was found near a big boulder in which two huge gunny bag packets with wires jutting out were found, he added.
“On closer inspection one pressure cooker based improvised explosive device was found in the first packet weighing approximately 10 kilograms and in the second packet another explosive device based on a cylinder weighing around 6 kilograms were found”, the Defence spokesman stated.
