JAMMU, May 31: A total 16 candidates are in fray for the elections to the executive body of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry being held on June 21.
Today the Election Committee headed by Prithvi Raj Gupta and other members Shiv Partap Gupta, Rattan Lal Mahajan, Rajan Gupta and Rajesh Jain scrutinized the papers submitted by all the contesting candidates. The committee found documents of total 16 candidates valid.
For the post of president, names of Rakesh Gupta and Parveen Kumar Gupta have been cleared. Three candidates contesting for the post of senior vice president are- Sham Lal Langar, Jagdish Langar and Surinder Mahajan. Deepak Aggarwal and Bharat Bhushan Gupta are contesting for the posts of junior vice presidents.
For the important post of secretary general four members are in fray. They included sitting secretary general Arun Gupta, Anil Gupta, Bhuvneshwar Gandotra and Manish Gupta. Rahul Mahajan and Rajesh Gupta are contesting for the post of secretary while three candidates – Ashu Gupta, Narinder Gupta and Rakesh Jandial are contesting for the post of treasurer.
The Election president has requested the contesting candidates to strictly adhere to clause 16 Section (XVI) of the constitution regarding elections which states that canvassing be done in a way so as to avoid bickering amongst members and through correspondence. Hosting of parties by candidates and their relatives and friends is strictly prohibited, he maintained.
