16 bovines seized, driver flees

UDHAMPUR, Sept 21: The police today rescued 16 bovine animals at Jakhani, on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Udhampur town.
Official sources said that based on reliable information, Police party from Udhampur led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib , SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Zahid Wani DySP Hqrs, laid a naka at Jakhani. Noticing the police party, driver of the vehicle parked his vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AP-8767, roadside and fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of heavy traffic on road.
During the checking of the vehicle, 16 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in it. All the bovine animals were rescued and the vehicle seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 489/2018 U/S 188, RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
