SAMBA, Mar 3: A bovine smuggling bid was foiled and 16 bovines were rescued today in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
“While performing vehicle checking duty at Naka Tapyal, a team of police station Ghagwal signalled a truck bearing registration number JK13A-8566 to stop but instead of applying brakes, the driver accelerated the speed and crossed the naka point. However, alerted cops chased the truck and intercepted it within a few metres away from the Naka,” a police spokesperson said.
He said during checking of the vehicle, 16 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. “In this connection, a case FIR Number 28/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal and further investigation started,” the spokesman added.
