16 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers held

SAMBA, Aug 20: In continuation to its drive against bovines smuggling, district police Samba successfully foiled another attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 16 bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
A police party of Police Station, Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signalled to truck bearing Registration Number PB13Y/6951 to stop which was coming from Kathua side.
During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle, which were being transported to Valley without any permission. The accused driver identified as Paramjeet Singh, S/o Puran Singh along with his associate Shamsher Singh, S/o Harjinder Singh both residents of Batala Punjab have been arrested. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 89/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
