JAMMU, Apr 14: At least 15 students of BPEd and MPEd from Udhampur area trapped in Nagpur area of Maharashtra and 16 security guards hailing from Rajouri area, stuck at Worli in Mumbai have pleaded for help to the J&K UT Administration.
Excelsior received distress calls from Worli where at least 16 security guards and gardeners from Rajouri district have been stuck at one place and were spending nights under sheds of the shops. They are facing starvation. Company which had employed them has locked down and operators have also gone to their villages, leaving them helpless.

One Mohd Zafar, hailing from Mandir Galla area of Kandi told the Excelsior from Worli ( Mumbai) on phone that they are total 16 persons from Kandi-Budhal area of Rajouri and trapped there. He said they have no shelter and were passing nights under sheds. There are no means of transport and all of them want to come home.
Zafar further said that they were working as security guard in a private agency and a few as gardener. The agency has been closed down and the offices where they were working have also been closed after countrywide lockdown. Since March 21, they have consumed their money and were being fed by some NGOs on roadsides. Now they are facing starvation. They have also urged upon the DC Rajouri through a few locals to help them through Mumbai Administration.
District Magistrate, Rajouri Nazir Ahmed Sheikh when contacted asked to share their number. He said since transportation from Mumbai to Rajouri was not possible amidst lockdown, he would try to establish contact with DM/SDM concerned at Worli and provide them shelter and food.
Meanwhile, Excelsior received two more similar distress calls from Nagpur and Bandhara districts in Maharashtra from BPEd / MPEd students from Udhampur area stuck there. These students are undergoing Physical Education courses there. They also told that about 60 students from Jammu area were also there at Amaravati college. This group of 15 students claimed that they were facing starvation. They were living at private places. Their exams have been postponed and may be held beyond June 20 if the situation improved. They want to come back to their homes.
One Sunil Sujan hailing from Panchount village in Dudu Sub Division said that he is stuck at Nagpur. There are 4 students in one college there. 11 others of his area in district Udhampur, are stuck at Sakoli college in district Bhandara. They had sought help from local administration but they have refused for their travel.
Another student, Shabil Singh from Chhatreri in Ramnagar said that some of them had come during March for exams but got stuck here. Now, they are unable to move back. He said the students are facing hardships and want to come back home. The security men did not allow them to move outside. Food is the main problem which they are facing right now. They pleaded for immediate help to the J&K UT Administration. Shabil said they have also approached DC Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla and he also received a call from his office this evening.
