15 held, 6 FIRs lodged against people violating SOPs

Srinagar, Apr 21: Police today said to have arrested 15 persons, registering FIRs while also realizing a fine of over Rs 1.5 lakh from more than 1200 people found violating COVID-19 SOPs across Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, police said, in continuous efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious Coronavirus, the J&K Police has been organizing several public awareness drives, interactions with religious leaders, distribution of masks, public announcements and distribution of pamphlets across Kashmir.
“Keeping in view the recent daily surge in the number of cases in Kashmir Valley, Police in its efforts to implement Covid-19 guidelines strictly has arrested 15 persons in the last 24 hours, lodged 6 FIRs and also realized the fine to the tune of Rs. 175,300/- from 1268 people for violating the guidelines/ rules,” police said.
In Kupwara, Police in its rigorous drive distributed free masks among the general public in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralpora to sensitize citizens about Covid-19 protocol. People of the area were also advised to follow Covid-19 guidelines and were also made aware of the symptoms of the virus.
In Sopore, SHO PS Bomai held a police public meeting with the respectable citizens of village Zaloora, Sagipora and Yamberzalwari where the participants were briefed about the precautionary measures to be followed for containment of Covid-19. The participants were also stressed to ensure social distancing and wear masks in Masajid, public transport and markets and spell out all the directions and advisories to the general public.
In Sopore town the market checking drive was held to ensure the wearing of face masks and following other mandated SOPs besides focussing on the smooth supply of essential commodities during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Police said that community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/guidelines/protocols for the safety of the people. The special drive shall remain continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.
