15 detained for trucker’s killing

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Security forces have launched a massive operation after killing of a truck driver by militants last night and setting ablaze the apple truck he was driving in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
At least 15 persons were picked up for questioning by the security forces as massive operation to trace out the militants responsible for the killing is going on.
A truck bearing registration number RJ147759 from Rajasthan carrying apple was stopped by some persons at Sindoo in Shirmal area of Shopian district in South Kashmir and set ablaze last night. The driver was shot at.
Police later recovered half burnt body of the truck driver Mohammad Shareef Khan of Alvar Rajasthan from the truck which had two bullet marks. The conductor of the bus, however, escaped unhurt in the attack.
In the meantime, militants hurled a grenade outside Shalimar Fabric in Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama district this evening. The grenade didn’t explode and Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the area. The grenade caused panic in the area.
And a day after mobile services were restored, the SMS services on the cell phones was barred today. This comes hardly few hours after they were restored since August 5.
