JAMMU, May 24: A 14-year-old boy was today found murdered in a vacant plot in Chatha area of city outskirts.
According to police sources, Ritik Kumar (14) son of Pawan Kumar, resident of Shivali Mohalla (Chatha) had gone missing on May 20. Since the missing child was a minor, a case under IPC section 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) was registered by Chatha police and investigation started.
Sources said during investigation, police rounded up several people including friends of the missing boy which led them to recovery of Ritik’s dead body from a vacant plot near Charak Enclave in Chatha area, this evening. They said the body of the boy was mutilated and was very difficult to be identified.
SP Jammu South, Deepak Digra said that the boy has been apparently murdered but it is difficult to say how he was murdered. “An FSL team was called on the crime spot and it had gathered all evidences. Further investigation is on and very soon the case will be solved,” he added.
The officer said that a fresh case of murder has been registered in this connection and investigation initiated accordingly while the body was sent for postmortem.
