POONCH, Dec 9: Fourteen persons were injured, some of them seriously when a passenger bus met with accident near Chandak today.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place when the ill-fated bus No. JK02J/ 8745 was on way to Poonch from Loran. As it reached near Chandak, the driver applied brakes at once to save a cattle crossing the road. The speeding bus went out of control and turned turtle on the road at around 10.30 am.
The locals of the area rushed for the rescue operation and the police party also arrived there after some time. All the injured were shifted to District Hospital, Poonch. Six of them were discharged after providing first aid. Eight others admitted to hospital were identified as Razia Bi, wife of Mohd Aslam, Nadia Kouser, daughter of Mohd Aslam, both residents of Sathra, Sain Mohd, son of Hassan Ali, resident of Loran; Fazia, daughter of Mohd Farooq, resident of Loran; Seema, daughter of Mohd Maqsood and Khursheeda, daughter of Mohd Farooq, residents of Banpath; Safia Khatoon, wife of Mohd Farooq from Loran and Nahim Akhtar, wife of Shakeel Ahmed from Mandi.
The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
