SAMBA, Feb 17: Police in Samba district claimed today they have seized 14 bikes, including nine fitted with modified silencers, in a daylong drive against the road safety violators.
A police official said that the action was taken against the violators on the complaints of several individuals about the nuisance these bikes were creating their areas.
According to him, unauthorized modification to the vehicle silencers is illegal under the Motor Vehicles Act as such alterations not only contribute to noise pollution but also reduce the efficiency of the bikes, thus posing safety risks.
SSP Samba warned that action against such violators will continue if they don’t stop modifying their bikes.
