JAMMU, July 9: A 13-year old boy drowned in Ranbir Canal at Village Purkhoo under the jurisdiction of police station Kanachak.
The boy identified as Harsh Gupta son of Tara Chand Gupta, a resident of Purkhoo drowned in the Ranbir Canal in Purkhoo area of the city outskirts when he got slipped in the canal this evening, a police official said.
He said locals as well as police team search for the body but could not locate it and the search operation had to be suspended late in the evening due to darkness. “The operation will be continued in the morning after stopping flow of water in the canal from Chenab River”, he further said, adding Kanachak police had taken cognizance of the matter.
