Another Corona death in Ladakh, 38 cases

JAMMU, Aug 19: Nearly 100 more persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region including 13 family members, relatives and contacts of an employee of private Airlines Company from Migrant Colony Jagti Nagrota, three more doctors including a Consultant, an official of Enforcement Directorate, two staffers of Indian Air Force (IAF) Udhampur, another official of Kot Bhalwal Jail and three members of a Channi Himmat family while 175 patients were today treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals of the region.
Thirteen persons, six of them women, tested positive for Coronavirus from Migrant Colony at Jagti Nagrota this evening. All of them were family members, relatives and contacts of an Indigo Airlines employee deployed at Jammu Airport, who had tested positive for the virus earlier.
Police teams led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nagrota Mohan Sharma have sealed the Migrant Colony and were in the process of shifting the positive persons to COVID hospitals. Further contact tracing of the positive persons is on.
A senior female Consultant and a Post Graduate student in Gynecology Department of the SMGS Hospital Jammu, another PG student in Anesthesia Department and one para-medical staffer of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu also tested positive for COVID-19 today.
An official of Enforcement Directorate posted in Jammu, another staffer of Kot Bhalwal Jail, driver of Board of School Education (BOSE) Rehari Colony and three of a family in Channi Himmat also tested positive for the virus in Jammu district. Other positives of Jammu district hailed from Akhnoor, Bantalab, Miran Sahib, Nanak Nagar, Shahidhi Chowk, Sunjwan, Barnai, Bakshi Nagar, Rajinder Bazaar, Kunjwani, Rajpura, Janipura and Sidhra. A number of paramilitary personnel especially from CRPF and BSF have also tested positive in Jammu district.
Two employees of IAF Udhampur tested positive for COVID-19 today, District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla told the Excelsior.
“With around 45 COVID positives cured and discharged today, total persons treated so far in the district stands at 602. With this, the district has achieved 90 percent cure rate,” Dr Singla said in a tweet.
Ten persons today tested positive for the virus in Samba district including six BSF jawans, two Army soldiers, one Central Government employee and a female patient of Madoon admitted in the SMGS hospital, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said.
He added that all six BSF positive jawans were contacts of one personnel of the same paramilitary force hailing from Kathua.
Nine persons today reported Corona positive in Rajouri district.
Of them, five were travelers, a patient from Ward No. 8 admitted in the GMC Jammu and one person each from Muradpura and Potha, who too were patients under treatment in the GMC Rajouri. Another person was a contact of positive case.
Out of four persons who were tested COVID positive in Kathua district, three were travelers and a contact of positive case, according to Deputy Commissioner OP Bhagat.
Three persons tested positive for the virus in Doda district hailing from Gandoh and Ghat while two travelers were infected in Ramban district.
One person each reported positive today in Poonch and Kishtwar districts.
As many as 175 Corona patients were today treated from the virus and discharged from various COVID hospital of Jammu region, the highest being 94 in Jammu district followed by 45 in Udhampur, 13 Rajouri, 11 Samba, five Kishtwar, four Reasi, two Kathua and one in Doda district.
Jammu region now has 6648 Corona cases but, of them, only 1491 are active as 5116 have been treated and discharged from the hospitals while there have been 41 casualties.
Meanwhile, a 67-year-old woman from Drass died of Coronavirus in Kargil district today taking toll in the Union Territory of Ladakh to 18-seven in Leh and 11 in Kargil.
A total of 38 fresh Corona cases were today reported in Ladakh-22 in Kargil and 16 in Leh. With this, Ladakh now has 2048 Corona cases—998 in Leh and 1050 in Kargil and 633 active cases—365 in Leh and 268 in Kargil. A total of 1397 Corona patients have recovered in Ladakh—626 in Leh and 771 in Kargil.
Of total positives in Ladakh, 43 were admitted in COVID hospitals, 316 were in home isolation, 117 in COVID Care Centres and 139 in Facility Isolation.
